Onitsuka Tigers are celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the theme for this collection is the year of the zodiac. Each sneaker in the line is somewhat inspired by an animal outside Zodiac calendar – print special techniques, special finishes and interesting designs can be found in every shoe in the collection.
Why Why the fuss? Well, in Japan a 60 is not a birthday, is a case of an event of major cultural importance that is loaded with symbolism. Persons under 60 years is an honor, celebrating having lived a full cycle of 60 years. The Japanese zodiac calendar is an ancient system originally conceived as a method of measuring time, and the definition of the characteristics of a person and their cycle of 60 years continues today.
